Mahogany care
Remove water spots from polished mahogany wood by rubbing with the fingertop to remove the spot.
Otherwise, a small piece of cheesecloth wrung out of hot water with a few drops of household ammonia will help you to remove the spot.
Rub lightly and quickly, then rrub with a soft oiled cloth. Finally rub the whole surface with oil and keep rubbing until all extra oil is used.
Remove stuck paper off mahogany wood by dabbing some oil on the paper. Dont try to scrape the paper off. Wait a while, then remove the paper by rubbing it with the fingertop.
Remove alcohol spots from mahogany wood by rubbing at once with the fingertop and then rub with a soft non-linth cloth and lemon oil.
Wash varnished mahogany wood by removing all dust first. Then prepare 1 quart boiling water, 3 tablespoons lemon oil and 1 tablespoon turpentine. Dip cheesecloth in this solution and wring it out well. Wash small spaces at a time and wipe immediately with dry cheese cloth.
Carvings can be cleaned with a soft brush and this solution. Protect cushions and wall paper by covering them so you will not spoil this solution over them.
Spray with water to preserve wicker, thus removing dust and keeping reed from drying and cracking. Wicker furniture may be brightened with furniture wash and wiped dry. Clean with soft brush in depper cracks and wipe dry.
